SOURCE-AWARE SANSKRIT STUDY
Search Sanskrit Dictionaries
The dictionary workspace provides local, browser-based access to two major public-domain Sanskrit reference works. Search accepts Devanagari and transliterated input and presents the adopted source entry without replacing it with an invented definition.

Monier-Williams Sanskrit-English Dictionary
Search the Monier-Williams dictionary for headwords, roots, compounds and meanings. Results retain source abbreviations and reference structure while improving readability for modern screens.
Apte’s Practical Sanskrit-English Dictionary
The Apte reader supplies an independent dictionary tradition with useful grammatical and literary examples. Switching sources helps distinguish a lexical fact from the wording or organization of one particular dictionary.
Search in Devanagari or transliteration
Input normalization supports common transliteration patterns while preserving the exact source form in results. The dictionaries remain available locally after their browser indexes have loaded.
